This is a personal domain. It houses my blog, my personal site, and whatever randomness I like (that wouldn't fit at my collective).
The name flimsy silence came about because I knew this would be a personal site, so I wanted the name to be about me somehow. I know the first impression I make on people is of a shy, or quiet person. But once you really get to know me I'm not that way at all. I'm just quiet at first to perhaps protect myself from getting hurt. Though of course it doesn't work; I still get hurt. My silence is flimsy both because it fails and because I'm not really that way, it's just a cape I wrap around myself in public. Thus, flimsysilence.

About the mascot
I came up with the idea of my "fsgirl" during the spring of 2006, in fact sketching her out in my notebook right before my "Substrates, Inks, and Toners" class. I was trying to think of different ways to put the letters F and S together after I'd made my favicon for fs.net. I found I could create a figure from the letters if I juxtaposed them just so.
I decided to recreate this girl in Illustrator and make a layout with her in it. The layout was up from June 15, 2006 to November 14, 2006.
I thought eventually I would tire of the layout and her and I'd have no problems taking her down. But I found recently that I like her too much, even if I no longer want to see her every single time I load my blog, to just carelessly discard her. That's how I decided to make her the mascot and keep her alive on this page.
About me
California born and bred, I'm attending the California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, majoring in graphic communication. I don't have much of what most people would consider a life. I like to stay at home and read or watch tv or spend time on the computer.
My family includes my mom, dad, and two younger brothers, whom I refer to as "N" and "C". The rest of my extended family that is present online would be my cousin Noelle of GiantPaper.org, her younger brother Worm88 (referred to as "W88"), and her younger sister whom I refer to as "SM00" (pronounced smü), even though she probably doesn't like that pseudonym anymore.

Mission Statement
The purpose of this site has changed many times over the course of its existence. Currently, as of February 2008, it's a place for me to write any thoughts that are niggling at me or for events I want to record.
